How to create and publish on Amazon KDP and Amazon Kindle eBook sales.

 📘 Step 1: Create Your Amazon KDP Account

To publish on Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing), visit kdp.amazon.com.

Sign in using your Amazon account or create a new one.

Fill out your profile including tax information and payment method.

🔍 SEO Tip: Use your real name or pen name if you're building an author brand.

🖊️ Step 2: Prepare Your Manuscript

Make sure your eBook is ready for publishing:

Format your manuscript in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or use Scrivener.

Save it as a .docx or PDF file.

Use clear headings, a readable font, and page breaks.

Pro Tip: Use Amazon's free tool Kindle Create to format your book for Kindle devices.

SEO Keyword Tip: Add relevant keywords inside your book title and subtitle if possible.

🎨 Step 3: Design a Book Cover

Your cover must be professional and eye-catching. You have 3 options:

Design it yourself with Canva or Adobe Express

Hire a freelancer on Fiverr or Upwork

Use the free KDP Cover Creator

Important: The cover must be in JPEG or TIFF format (300 dpi, RGB color mode).

📝 Step 4: Add Book Details on KDP

Go to your KDP dashboard and click “Create a new title”.

Choose between:

eBook (Kindle)

Paperback

Hardcover (optional)

Then fill in:

Book Title & Subtitle (use keywords like "self-help", "mindset", "health", etc.)

Author Name

Book Description (write a compelling summary for SEO and search visibility)

Keywords (add 7 relevant search terms)

Categories (choose two best-fit categories like Business, Education, Romance, etc.)

Age & Grade Level (if applicable)

📤 Step 5: Upload Your Manuscript & Cover

Upload your manuscript file (.docx or PDF)

Upload your cover or use KDP Cover Creator

Preview your book using the Kindle Previewer

Tip: Make sure there are no formatting errors or blank pages.

💵 Step 6: Set Pricing & Royalties

Choose your distribution territories (usually worldwide).

Set your pricing:

For eBooks: You can select 35% or 70% royalty

For Paperbacks: Set a price that covers printing costs and still earns you profit

Example:

eBook: $2.99 (70% royalty = approx. $2 profit per sale)

Paperback: $9.99 (60% royalty – printing = approx. $3–4 profit)

Click "Publish" – your book will go live in 24–72 hours on Amazon!
